BeSaCC

What it is

BeSaCC-VCA's own page names the scheme and its origin: "The BeSaCC (Belgian Safety Criteria for Contractors) system was developed in Belgium on the initiative of the Federation of Belgian Companies... Both systems are complementary and are managed in Belgium by the same national structure, namely the non-profit organisation BeSaCC-VCA."

BeSaCC is explicitly not the same process as SCC certification: "BeSaCC is an attestation system in which a group of experts (Cel van Deskundigen - CoE) checks whether the BeSaCC criteria have been met... This system is mainly intended for the smaller contractors and subcontractors carrying out low-risk work. It can also be considered a first step towards SCC." BeSaCC's own page also names the difference in mechanism directly: "The difference lies mainly in the process whereby SCC requires an audit by a certification body."

The scheme's own page names its target activities: "classical cleaning," "painting and maintenance work on buildings," "construction work in a non-production environment," and "garden landscaping/green services."

Who owns it

BeSaCC is managed, alongside VCA, by the non-profit organisation BeSaCC-VCA, per BeSaCC-VCA's own page.

Who asks for it

A Belgian federal occupational-safety information page (BeSWiC, run by the FOD WASO) records that, as of the page's own count, "Ruim 4000 bedrijven in België hebben ondertussen een geldig VCA-certificaat of BeSaCC-attest" — more than 4,000 companies in Belgium hold a valid VCA certificate or BeSaCC attestation. That figure is a combined VCA-plus-BeSaCC count, not a BeSaCC-only figure, and the page carries no date for when the count was taken.
