Cgcre operates inside Inmetro, a federal autarky
Coordenação Geral de Acreditação do Inmetro (Cgcre) is a coordination unit inside Inmetro (Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia), a federal autarky under Lei nº 5.966/1973, Art. 4–5. Cgcre describes itself as "o único organismo de acreditação reconhecido no Brasil" (the only accreditation body recognised in Brazil) — this is Inmetro's own statement; a separate national legal instrument establishing sole-body status was not found this round.

Occupational safety and health — the NR system
Brazil's Normas Regulamentadoras (NRs) are the binding occupational-safety rules issued under the CLT (Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho), Título II, Capítulo V, first published via Portaria MTb 3.214/1978. As of this verification, 36 NRs are in force (NR-1 through NR-38, with NR-2 and NR-27 revoked); a psychosocial-risk update to NR-1 (introduced by Portaria MTE nº 1.419/2024, postponed by Portaria MTE nº 765/2025) takes effect 26 May 2026. The Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego enforces the NRs.
