Instrument
Regulation (EC) 765/2008, Art. 30, as transposed via the EØS-vareloven (LOV-2013-04-12-13), §2
Who it binds
Manufacturers and their representatives placing harmonised-sector products on the Norwegian market
What it requires
Regulation (EC) 765/2008 reaches Norway through the EEA Agreement, transposed by §2 of the EØS-vareloven — it is not directly applicable EU law. Art. 30: only the manufacturer or its authorised representative may affix the CE mark; affixing it means taking responsibility for the product's conformity; Norway, like other EEA states, must provide for sanctions, including criminal penalties, for serious misuse.
