What it requires
Once a commodity category is publicly announced by BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, under the Ministry of Economic Affairs) as subject to inspection, it must clear one of four conformity routes — batch-by-batch inspection, monitoring inspection, Registration of Product Certification (RPC), or a declaration of conformity — and carry the Commodity Inspection Mark before sale (Art. 5, 12). Sellers may not display or sell non-compliant covered commodities (Art. 6). Violations carry an administrative fine of NT$200,000–2,000,000 (Art. 60). BSMI's own public database looks up whether a specific HS code is currently covered.
