What it requires
Products in the scheme's covered categories must carry an energy label in a prescribed format before supply; products must be tested by an accredited laboratory and a reference number obtained from EMSD before supply. Rollout has been phased: Phase 1 (9 Nov 2009) covered room air conditioners, refrigerating appliances and compact fluorescent lamps; Phase 2 (19 Sep 2011) added washing machines and dehumidifiers; Phase 3 (1 Dec 2019) added televisions, storage water heaters and induction cookers; Phase 4 (1 Dec 2024) added LED lamps, gas cookers and gas instantaneous water heaters.
