What is this standard?

Sets requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, reviewing and improving an effective management system for knowledge management. All of its requirements are applicable to any organisation, regardless of type or size.

Who is it for?

Any organisation, of any type or size, where institutional knowledge is critical.

What triggers an assessment?

• Institutional memory sits with individuals and is lost at handover.
• A defined framework is wanted for knowledge creation, sharing and use.
• A group company or customer wants knowledge management assurance.

What does it not replace?

• It does not substitute for document management software.
• It is not the same record as a management system for records (ISO 30301).
