Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules Certification
Global CBPR is a government-backed privacy certification for cross-border data transfers, awarded by independent third-party Accountability Agents. The Global CBPR Forum states its Accountability Agents are "third-party certification bodies approved by the Global CBPR Forum to certify interested organizations," building on the earlier APEC CBPR and PRP Systems.

What it is
The Global CBPR Forum describes its own systems in these words: "The Global CBPR and Global PRP Systems are practical, government-backed, privacy certifications."
The CBPR system certifies data controllers; the companion Global PRP system — Privacy Recognition for Processors — certifies data processors, per the systems' own names.
The Forum states its own lineage: "The Global CBPR and Global PRP Systems are based on the APEC CBPR and APEC PRP Systems." This is a separate system administered by the Global CBPR Forum, not the APEC forum itself.
Who owns it
The Global CBPR and Global PRP Systems are administered by the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules Forum, a body the systems' own FAQ page describes as built on the earlier APEC CBPR and APEC PRP Systems.
Who assesses it
