What it requires
The LkSG is a national German law, distinct from the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1760), which is a separate instrument at the EU bloc layer. As of this verification, no amendment law to the LkSG has been published or entered into force (latest Bundesgesetzblatt issue checked: BGBl 2026 I Nr. 237, 18 August 2026), so the 1,000-employee threshold remains current — despite this, BAFA (the administering authority) has, per its own notice (as at 7 November 2025), stopped reviewing reports filed under LkSG §§12–13 and closed the submission channel, citing an expected legislative amendment; this pause in report review does not itself mean the underlying due-diligence obligation has been removed.
