Where this applies
This record is scoped to New South Wales. Scope is part of the claim: a rule that binds one part of a country does not bind the whole of it, and this library states the scope its sources state.
Instrument
Food Regulation 2025 (NSW)
Who it binds
Higher-risk NSW food businesses: meat, dairy, seafood, shellfish, specific plant products (sprouts, oil-packed vegetables, unpasteurised fruit juice), eggs, and any business serving food to a vulnerable group (e.g. a hospital or aged-care facility). Since 12 February 2026, businesses handling berries, leafy vegetables or melons are also covered.
What it requires
Notification alone is not enough for higher-risk NSW food sectors — they need a licence from the NSW Food Authority. The Food Regulation 2025 extended this licensing requirement to berry, leafy-vegetable and melon businesses from 12 February 2026.
