This tool covers 16 EU product-marking instruments — pick what your product does, and it shows which instruments apply, whether a notified body is involved, and whether the marking is currently recognised for the Great Britain market. The CE marking recognition the UK put in place under SI 2024/696 (1 October 2024) carries no defined end date in that regulation's own text, and UKCA labelling flexibility runs until 31 December 2027 — both change on their own timeline, independent of any one product category.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) — Directive 2014/30/EU

Regulates the electromagnetic compatibility of equipment, requiring an adequate level of compatibility for the internal market to function.

How this data is verified, and where it’s still incomplete

Every instrument here traces to a strict-copy quote from EUR-Lex or, where EUR-Lex briefly blocked automated access mid-research, the UK National Archives’ official “EU original — as adopted” republication of the same article (itself queued for a direct EUR-Lex cross-check). Where an instrument’s own CE-marking article has not yet been confirmed this way, it is labelled “confirming” rather than shown as a settled requirement.

This tool’s coverage is not exhaustive: several EU instruments that may also require a product marking — including the AI Act, the Cyber Resilience Act, the Batteries Regulation, Ecodesign, Packaging and several sector-specific directives (fertilisers, drones, cableways, measuring instruments, pyrotechnics, explosives, recreational craft) — are not yet included, because their CE-marking article has not yet been confirmed from a primary source. A product outside the categories listed above may still be in scope of EU marking rules this tool does not yet cover.
