Global Materials Management Operations Guideline / Logistics Evaluation

What it is

The guideline defines itself in its Foreword: "Global Materials Management Operations Guidelines/Logistics Evaluation (MMOG/LE) is a self-assessment and continuous improvement tool that provides the means to enhance materials management efficiency and accuracy while reducing costs from errors and waste." It "was derived from the Odette Logistics Evaluation (OLE) and AIAG's Materials Management Operations Guideline (MMOG), which were both originally published in 1999".

Structure (v6.0, March 2023): six chapters, in Full and Basic versions — "The Full assessment contains 176 criteria. The Basic version contains 96 of the 176 criteria used in the Full version." The outcome is a classification: A, B or C in the Full version, ZA, ZB or ZC in the Basic version.

Assessment can run in three modes: "Global MMOG/LE has been developed so that an assessment can be undertaken on several bases, including a self-assessment, a verified assessment by a customer, or a verified assessment by a customer-approved third party assessor."

The guideline aligns with IATF 16949: "The focus of IATF 16949 is on the quality of the product, whereas MMOG/LE is a guideline for the efficient and timely delivery of those same products. MMOG/LE adopts the same 'process approach' as IATF 16949..."

Who owns it

Global MMOG/LE is jointly owned: "The document is the result of a collaborative effort among work groups within Odette International Limited and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) to develop a single SCM evaluation that can be used globally." AIAG calls it "This unique assessment tool — developed jointly by AIAG and Odette."

Who assesses it

There is no accredited assessor network: the assessment is undertaken as "a self-assessment, a verified assessment by a customer, or a verified assessment by a customer-approved third party assessor" (v6.0, §2 Assessment Responsibility).

Classification (Full version)

• A — "A total score of 95% or higher" (Global MMOG/LE v6.0, §5 Classification)
• B — "85% or higher" (Global MMOG/LE v6.0, §5 Classification)
• C — "less than 85%" (Global MMOG/LE v6.0, §5 Classification)

Who asks for it

Buyer-driven. Basis is the owner's own unnamed statement: "Several large automotive customers set a deadline of 31 July for the annual submission of MMOG assessments" (odette.org, 31 August 2026). No specific OEM obligation was identified in Odette or AIAG sources — confirm against the relevant OEM's own supplier portal.
