ADISA ICT Asset Recovery Standard 8.0

What it is

ADISA Certification owns this standard and audits against it. Its page for the standard says: "ADISA Certification – the scheme owner and certification body – is UKAS-accredited to audit this standard". That accreditation statement is the owner's; UKAS's own accreditation schedule pages returned HTTP 403 when opened on 4 September 2026, so it is recorded here as the owner's statement rather than as a confirmed fact.

The standard addresses processors and sub-processors in the IT asset disposal sector. A Data Impact Assurance Level (DIAL) rating is described by the owner as a core element of Standard 8.0; the DIAL level definitions sit on a separate owner page that was not opened for this record.

The owner also states that the standard is "approved by the Information Commissioner's Office as meeting the criteria for UK GDPR privacy certification". The regulator's own register entry was opened on 4 September 2026 and carries it: the entry gives an "Original approval date 19 July 2021", names the "Scheme owner" as "ADISA Certification Ltd", and lists under "UKAS accredited certification bodies" the line "ADISA Certification Limited" with "Accreditation Reference: 23831". The accreditation number therefore rests on the regulator's page, not on the owner's own claim; UKAS's own register was not opened for this record, so the scope of that accreditation was not read.

The same ICO entry records a transition that is still running. The approved scheme documents are Standard 8.0 v3.1 and v3.2 and, "Approved 18 March 2026", Standard 8.0 v4.0; the entry states that approval "remains valid until all certified organisations have transitioned to Standard 8.0 v4.0". This record follows the owner's own "Standard 8.0" naming and does not pin a sub-version.

The public register is open without a login and is titled "Find a Certified Product Or Service". For the ICT Asset Recovery Standard 8.0 (UK) table it lists Company name, Status, DIAL No, Address and a Micro Page for each company.

Reading that register needs care: it also contains entries marked "under application". Appearing in the list is therefore not the same as holding the certification — the Status column is what distinguishes them.

ADISA is not a single certificate. Its schemes include the ADISA ICT Asset Recovery Standard 8.0, the ADISA ITAD Essentials Standard, LOCS:23 (Legal Services Operational Privacy Certification Scheme), Product Claims Test and Product Assurance from the ADISA Research Centre, VIZION shred-size validation, and ISO 9001.

For Standard 8.0 the owner's page says only that "certified members undergo regular audits to maintain their certified status"; whether those audits are announced or unannounced, and the length of the cycle, were not established from the pages read. The owner's ITAD Essentials page refers to annual renewal, which is a different scheme.

The canonical address for the certification business is adisacertification.com. The adisa.global domain currently shows an interim page: "Visit adisacertification.com for all certifications or bookmark adisa.global for some exciting news. Our new website is coming soon...".

The owner is both the scheme owner and the body that audits against the scheme, in its own words.

Who assesses it

ADISA Certification itself audits companies against the standard; the owner's home page states: "ADISA Certification is recognised by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)". That sentence is the owner's own; no UKAS source could be opened to confirm its scope, and no accreditation reference number is published on this page.

Certified companies and their status are listed in the owner's public register, which records a Status and a Valid To value per entry.
