What it requires
Art. 3 requires business-commencement notification to METI (the importer is the liable party for imported goods). Art. 8 requires compliance with technical requirements plus self-inspection and recordkeeping, for both categories. Art. 9 additionally requires mandatory third-party conformity assessment at a METI-registered conformity assessment body for Category A items only.
